Two Kids Left Alone With A Dead Man And Drugs
LORIS, S.C. (CBS Charlotte) – A woman left her two children in a hotel room with a man’s dead body and numerous drugs.
Police arrived to the Carolina Inn Hotel where they found Belonda Renee Davis’ two girls, an 11-year-old and a 13-year-old, alone in a room with a man’s dead body on Sept. 18, 2013, Myrtle Beach Online reported.
According to police, Paul Tebeau, 21, was the deceased man in the room with the children and the cause of death was not determined pending the results of a toxicology report.
Police found a crack pipe, marijuana, unidentified white pills in a cigarette pack, numerous prescription bottles with Davis’ name on them, and what looked like Sudafed, Myrtle Beach Online reported. Davis explained to police that she did not see Tabeau take any other drugs, but that he had been smoking marijuana the night before.
Davis was arrested in September for the incident and charged with two counts of unlawful neglect of a child and a cruelty charge.
The 31-year-old woman pleaded guilty to child cruelty and was sentenced to 20 days in jail. The two counts of child neglect were dismissed following her plea. She was given credit for the time she previously served and was ordered to pay court costs and abide by all orders from the Department of Social Services.
Her children were taken into emergency protective custody.
Thursday Davis was taken into custody following her plea and is currently jailed at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
