RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina legislators will have questions for state health leaders about a privacy breach for children receiving Medicaid and a backlog of food stamp applications.

Members of on oversight committee prepared to begin their monthly meeting Tuesday with comments from Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Aldona Wos (vahsh).

Wos has been taking criticism for mistakes by her department in recent months but still has the support of her boss, Gov. Pat McCrory. Democrats in the legislature are calling on McCrory to replace her, but Republican committee members say stability is needed in leadership at the agency.

Still, lawmakers from both parties want answers about how the department mailed 49,000 Medicaid cards to the wrong addresses and a food stamp backlog that’s caused federal regulators to threaten cutting off funds.
