Where were you on January 10, 2009?

If you are a Carolina Panthers fan, you must certainly know what you were watching on that Saturday night, it was perhaps the most disappointing loss in team history.

That 33-13 defeat at the hands of the Arizona Cardinals has haunted fans for the last five years and for some will haunt them for the rest of their lives.

Since then, Panthers fans have endured someone called Brian St. Pierre as their quarterback, Jeff Davidson as a so called offensive coordinator, and a forgettable 2-14 season that wrapped up the John Fox era here in Charlotte.

Fast forward to 2014, the Panthers are finally back form football abyss.

Back in the playoffs, back in the national spotlight, playing meaningful football in the 2nd week of January.

It didn’t look good at 1-3, fans wanted Rivera, Gettleman, Cam, trainers, concession workers all fired or worse.

But this was not to be the same ole’ Panthers . Behind a suffocating defense, much improved quarterback play from Cam Newton, and a suddenly risk taking head coach, Carolina found their mojo, their stride, and their long gone into witness protection program fans to help them win the NFC South.

The match up with the 49ers has been a long time coming since that cool, rainy Saturday night back in 2009. Welcome back Carolina, what took you so long?
