Should Cam Newton ‘Update His Software’ For 49ers Playoff Game?
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton talked with the media this week before his team’s first playoff game this season against the San Francisco 49ers.
When questioned about his growth since being drafted by the team three years ago, Cam compared it to the everyday cell phone.
“We all have software, smart phones, and as a human, I think we all need updates as well,” says Newton.
Even though he hasn’t had incredible stats over the past few games, Cam Newton doesn’t believe that he has any bugs for this ‘software update’ to fix.
“When you have one of those phones, and you go to general settings and it says ‘Update,’ it just updates the whole software!”
But what version of software is Cam Newton this season? My guess would be 3.0 since it’s his 3rd year in the league, but Cam isn’t worried about numbers and stats. He believes it’s about winning games and not pressing the ‘cancel’ or ‘remind me tomorrow’ buttons on his NFL career smart phone.
He was finally asked when the button to ‘update his software’ was hit to turn around the Carolina Panthers’ season. Some might point to the Minnesota Vikings away game win when they were 1-3. Others might say the away victory against the 49ers in Candlestick Park or the Monday Night Football win against the New England Patriots.
But Cam made it seem as if he was fully charged, upgraded, and ready to take on the San Francisco 49ers again in the playoffs.
“Hopefully I will have all software…up to date come Sunday.”
How would you rank Cam Newton’s software this year? Does he need another upgrade before the 49ers game? And if so, what bugs would you fix?
Rank his “Software” level of play below…1 being the worst and 5 being the best.
