NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Authorities have released the names of two North Charleston women shot to death at different homes on New Year’s Day.

At around 7 p.m. Wednesday, police say 49-year-old Debra Martin was found unresponsive on her living room floor. She had been shot in the back and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Earlier Wednesday, at around 5 a.m., 52-year-old Janet Royal’s son told officers his mother was shot while answering the door. She later died at a hospital.

A third woman, 41-year-old Sabrina Green, was shot at around 5 a.m. after going to answer a knock at the door. She was taken to a hospital, and information about her condition was not available.

North Charleston Police Chief Eddie Driggers declined to discuss the shootings or say if they are related.
