ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina State University is testing how it would respond to an active shooter on campus.

The Orangeburg school is scheduled to conduct an active shooter exercise Tuesday morning.

School officials say the drill will last about 20 minutes and will be a way to test the university’s mass notification system, including social media and other electronic communications.

Traffic on and off campus will be restricted during the drill, and campus police are collaborating with local law enforcement agencies.

Officials say the university plans to hold a second drill in the spring.
