Salisbury Man Shot In Head After Confronting Burglar
SALISBURY, N.C. (AP) — Authorities in Rowan County are searching for a suspect after a man was shot in the head after he apparently encountered a burglar at his home.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said 25-year-old Marcus Kaufman called 911 on Monday to say his home was being burglarized and that shots had been fired. After that, the call was cut off.
Deputies found Kauffman inside his car, which had crashed into a tree. Kauffman was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where he was listed in critical condition Tuesday.
Investigators say Kauffman noticed something didn’t seem right when he and his wife returned about 10 a.m. to their home near the town of Cleveland. They say that’s when he left his wife at a neighbor’s house and returned home.
