NC Man Crashes Into Skating Rink
CARY, N.C. (AP) — Police have arrested a Cary man following a chase that ended when the suspect crashed his car into a skating rink.
Authorities say an officer saw the car speeding and followed it for about a half-mile to the skating rink. An affidavit says the driver failed to stop for blue lights and a siren.
Once he reached the parking lot, police say the man made an abrupt turn, and the car crashed into the skating rink Sunday evening.
Benjamin Tanner Watts is charged with fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, driving while impaired, resisting a public officer, injury to real property and reckless driving. The 28-year-old was being held in the Wake County jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in court Monday.
