Man Sentenced To 40 Years In SC Attacks
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — A Chesnee man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for sex-related attacks on women in Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties.
Prosecutor Barry Barnette says 20-year-old Rodney Maurice Davis Jr. was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty but mentally ill to charges including first-degree criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping and first-degree burglary.
Davis was arrested in September 2012 after authorities said he knocked on a Spartanburg woman’s door, asked to use the bathroom, then raped her.
Authorities say Davis admitted that assault. They say he also confessed to threatening other women weeks earlier at Boiling Springs-area businesses.
