Jamie Dukes, from the NFL Network and our sister station, 92.9 The Game in Atlanta stops by to discuss the Panthers progress and his pre-season predictions for the Cats. it doesn’t take long for voices to get raised.

On the Panthers ‘legitimacy’: They are certainly in contention for the wildcard, but I wouldn’t be willing to go further than that, because of concerns about the offense.

Jamie gets worked up when Mac suggests he was wrong in his pre-season criticism of Panthers offensive coordinator, Mike Shula. “The things I talked about is exactly what they’re doing [now] and that’s why they’re more successful.”

On Cam Newton: The one thing that he is doing that is boding well, is not turning the ball over. Wait until they get him some real wide receivers to go with Steve Smith. Wait until they bring in somebody else in that’s a legit, consistent wide receiver as opposed to that circus act. When that gets resolved, Cam will go to the next level.

Jamie also weighs in on how society may have dodged a serious bullet more than we realize with the recent Dolphins drama.
