Chris Simms: I Would Take OSU And FSU Over Oregon
Chris Simms, from FoxSports and FoxSports 1, joined Mac and Jim to discuss college football, after giving Mac his blessing to discuss the Panthers making the playoffs.
On Florida State v. Miami: Florida State just has a few more players, at this point, than Miami. Miami’s on the up and up, but just not in the same class. Winston struggled a little bit, but even with those first half struggles, I never felt they weren’t in control of the game. Miami has good players, they’re tough and physical, but they’ve had too many moments of stale offense, where they disappear for a quarter or two and we saw that Saturday night.
On Jameis Winston: The kid can just play. He’s even faster than I gave him credit for. He’s so big and a strong arm, not an unbelievable arm, but he can make all the throws. His poise and leadership and his ability to look downfield until the last second, before flipping it to the check down. He seems to be very calm and never overwhelmed. I’ve been unbelievably impressed.
On the four teams in the country: I would put Oregon 4th. I’m just not going to jump on this Oregon bandwagon, or any team who plays this style of football until I actually see them win it. I would pick either Ohio State or Florida State over Oregon. Florida State convinced me they’re the number two team in the country on Saturday night, because they are so well rounded.
