The 2013-2014 NBA season got underway last Tuesday night as the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat headlined opening night in the Association. On Thursday, the Atlantic Coast Conference sent out a release informing the media that sixty-seven players from current ACC schools were listed on NBA team rosters on opening night. Thirteen of the ACC’s current fifteen schools are represented on NBA rosters, and 11 of those schools have more than one player currently in the league. North Carolina and Duke lead all schools with 15 players each on NBA rosters. Below is the complete list of alumni from North Carolina and Duke that are presently on NBA rosters:

North Carolina

-Brendan Haywood, Charlotte Bobcats

-Vince Carter, Dallas Mavericks

-Wayne Ellington, Dallas Mavericks

-Brandan Wright, Dallas Mavericks

-Ty Lawson, Denver Nuggets

-Antawn Jamison, Los Angeles Clippers

-Raymond Felton, New York Knicks

-Ed Davis, Memphis Grizzlies

-John Henson, Milwaukee Bucks

-Danny Green, San Antonio Spurs

-Tyler Hansbrough, Toronto Raptors

-Marvin Williams, Utah Jazz

-Tyler Zeller, Cleveland Cavaliers

Duke

-Elton Brand, Atlanta Hawks

-Mason Plumlee, Brooklyn Nets

-Gerald Henderson, Charlotte Bobcats

-Josh McRoberts, Charlotte Bobcas

-Carlos Boozer, Chicago Bulls

-Luol Deng, Chicago Bulls

-Mike Dunleavy, Chicago Bulls

-Kyrie Irving, Cleveland Cavaliers

-Kyle Singler, Detroit Pistons

-J.J. Redick, Los Angeles Clippers

-Ryan Kelly, Los Angeles Lakers

-Shane Battier, Miami Heat

-Austin Rivers, New Orleans Pelicans

-Lance Thomas, New Orleans Pelicans

-Miles Plumlee, Phoenix Suns

I was bored in class when I received this release and so I immediately began to think about who would win in a pick-up game between UNC alumni and Duke alumni presently in the NBA. I decided to put together two, 12-man rosters from these two lists, 5 starters and 7 bench players, and began to think about who would win in this hypothetical match-up. The rosters I came up with are as follows:

North Carolina:

PG – Ty Lawson

SG – Vince Carter

SF – Harrison Barnes

PF – Antawn Jamison

C – Brandan Wright

-Raymond Felton

-Danny Green

-Tyler Hansbrough

-John Henson

-Wayne Ellington

-Tyler Zeller

-Marvin Williams

Duke:

PG – Kyrie Irving

SG – Gerald Henderson

SF – Luol Deng

PF – Carlos Boozer

C – Elton Brand

-Shane Battier

-Mike Dunleavy

-Austin Rivers

-Kyle Singler

-Josh McRoberts

-Lance Thomas

-Plumlee or Plumlee….who cares

My vote is NBA Duke handles NBA UNC but who cares what I think, I want to know what you think. So, NBA Tar Heels vs. NBA Blue Devils, who wins?
