Some Sex Offenders In SC On Halloween Curfew
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Hundreds of sex offenders across South Carolina are again subject to some restrictions this Halloween.
Agency spokesman Pete O’Boyle says about 1,200 offenders currently being monitored by the state Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services are under a curfew from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday.
During that time, offenders cannot host parties, attend carnivals, give out candy or even have their outdoor lights on. Agents will call and drop by some offenders’ homes to check in. In some areas, sex offenders are required to report to designated locations.
This is the seventh year paroled South Carolina sex offenders have had a Halloween curfew. Authorities say it’s safe to let kids go door-to-door to trick-or-treat as long as they’re supervised.
