Longtime NFL Wide Receiver turned analyst Derrick Mason joined “The Mac Attack” to discuss the Dez Bryant situation in Dallas and he had some thoughts on Cam Newton being an elite QB right now.
After watching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers loss to the Panthers, Derrick Mason praised the Panthers defense & running game but had nothing but great things to say about the Panthers’ future franchise quarterback.
“I don’t care who they are playing against, he’s playing like an elite quarterback right now. He’s not turning over the ball,” says Mason. “He’s spreading the ball around to five different guys…you don’t rarely see that.”
And speaking on Cowboys’ WR Bryant causing a scene on the sidelines during the Detroit Lions game, Mason was unsure about what was actually said versus what the video captured.
“The guy probably could have handled it differently,” says Mason. “But the guy is a competitor. he’s a guy that he’s proven that if you give him the ball then he is going to make it happen.”
Derrick Mason even brought up the fact that you’ve seen elite QBs like Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, blow up on the sideline, but Dez’s temperament wasn’t as bad as theirs. And even the coaches could make things worse if they intervened and didn’t have them settle down.
