PACOLET, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina man has been charged with driving under the influence after authorities say he hit his 19-year-old daughter with his minivan.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office says 49-year-old Robert Darryl Nipper of Pacolet was being held without bond Thursday on charges including DUI and aggravated assault and battery.
Deputies say they were called to a home after a report of a hit and run accident. Authorities say Nipper had switched from the driver’s seat to a passenger seat by the time a deputy approached the minivan.
Deputies say Nipper’s blood-alcohol level was 0.13. He told authorities he had hit his daughter with the minivan earlier, but that it was an accident.
It wasn’t immediately known if Nipper had an attorney. His daughter was treated at a hospital.
