Suspect Dies In Police Custody
EDEN, N.C. (AP) — Authorities say a 45-year-old man accused of spending counterfeit money has died in police custody in Eden.
Police said they arrested Timothy Wayne Bancroft Saturday at the Eden Flea Market after finding him with fake money.
Authorities say officers used restraints to secure him to a bench as he waited to be questioned.
Investigators say at some point those restraints got wrapped around Bancroft’s neck and he died.
The State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the death.
