FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Authorities in Cumberland County say an online threat against Pine Forest High School was made by a teen in Louisiana.

A news release from Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Debbie Tanna says that detectives worked with authorities in Louisiana to track down the person who made the threats.

The news release says the teenage boy described the threat as a joke that got out of hand. He’s being charged.

The threat made Saturday on social media indicated that someone wanted to shoot up the school.

Authorities say the threat was made on Edmodo, a site similar to Facebook that gives teachers more control over what is posted online.

The sheriff’s office says that additional deputies will be placed at the school this week.
