NCSU Dave Doeren: “We Want To Be In The Picture For The National Championship And We Want To Do It With NC Kids”
The Drive Thursday 10-3-13 – Dave Doeren talks with The Drive to preview this weekend game. They first talk about the history that NC State has in big games, how his team has responded to his coaching style so far this season, and they get into the quarterback situation in Raleigh with the day one starter getting hurt.
The Wolfpack head to Wake Forest this weekend so we start by asking the first year coach about his recent record in Winston-Salem.
“I care a lot about the past. I study history and NC State hasn’t really been a good road team anyway.”
“It’s something we’ve addressed…obviously part of the rebuilding part of this program is changing that trend”
Next we ask the coach just how coachable his team is after the first few games of the season.
“They want to win…They’re fun to coach.”
“There are some guys that probably think they’re aren’t playing enough but we’ll either have to recruit past them or they’ll change their ways or they’ll quit.”
This being his first year in Raleigh we ask Dave just what he heard about Wolfpack fans before he got here and what he has experienced so far.
“I had so many people tell me about how great gameday is and how loyal the fans are.”
“Its a place where you can really have a niche because most of the schools in the state are more basketball orientated”
We close by asking Dave Doeren about the quality of talent in the state of North Carolina.
“I think a lot of kids want to stay in the state”
“A lot of people know that if the best players stay home its a possibility to be in the running for the National Championship”
We love how the coach signs off each interview with a “Go Pack”
