CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A Berkeley County man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for starting an apartment fire that killed three people.

U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles said Wednesday 34-year-old Jerald McCabe had been sentenced in federal court in Charleston. McCabe had faced a possible life sentence in prison.

McCabe pleaded guilty in April to conspiring to manufacture methamphetamine and manufacturing methamphetamine where children reside.

McCabe and another man faced federal charges after a May 2012 fire at a Goose Creek apartment complex that killed three and left dozens homeless. Authorities said they found evidence of a meth lab.
