We finally have a win in the QC and that means we finally have some pretty numbers to focus on. Try these Panther digits on for size. Kudos to Pro Football Focus and Football Outsiders for most of these numbers.
30 – Cam threw the ball over 20 yards downfield 30 percent of the time on Sunday. That was tops in the league. Shula has received the message about taking deep shots.
5- Cam hit his last 5 passes of 15 yards or more on Sunday, including 3 TDs.
108- Cam’s QB rating when the opponent is not blitzing.
73- Cam’s QB rating when blitzed this season.
75.1- Cam’s rating in the first half. (oddly his rating in First Quarters in the first two years of his career was 102)
129.9- Cam’s rating in the 2nd half.
2- The Cats rank second in the NFL in sack rate. On 10 percent of the dropbacks, they are sacking the QB.
3- The defense ranks 3rd in the NFL in stuff perecentage. That means defense stuffs runs for no gain or a loss more than all but two other defenses.
3- The Panthers rank 3rd in the NFL in special teams according to Pro Football Focus.
3- Deangelo Williams currently ranks 3rd in the NFL in rushing.
2- Brad Nortman is currently 2nd in the NFL in punting.
6- According to Pro Football focus, the Cats are 6th in efficency on defense against TEs. That is a vast change from the old days of Cam Cleeland killing us.
