Man Shot To Death At Charlotte Nightclub
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police detectives are investigating the city’s fifth homicide since Thursday.
Police say 22-year-old Dominick Eugene Alexander was shot at a nightclub around 2 a.m. Tuesday. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where he died.
Authorities say another person arrived at Carolinas Medical Center with a non-life threatening gunshot wound, and detectives say they think the shootings were the result of a dispute outside the club.
The first of the five deaths occurred last Thursday, when police say 34-year-old Bennett Eugene Miller was shot in the parking lot of an apartment complex as students were getting off a school bus nearby. Two people are charged in that death.
Three people were shot and killed on Sunday.
The Charlotte Observer reports that the deaths increased Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s homicide total this year to 35 – three fewer than last year at this time. The 52 homicides last year were the fewest for Charlotte-Mecklenburg police in 24 years.
