RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The protest movement against the Republican-led North Carolina legislature continues on Labor Day by focusing on what its critics call anti-worker legislation.

Representatives of the state AFL-CIO and Farm Labor Organizing Committee plan to join the Rev. William Barber with the NAACP at a Monday news conference in Raleigh. Speakers will talk about bills passed this year that will prevent hundreds of thousands of people from receiving either emergency federal unemployment benefits or the state’s earned income tax credit.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in North Carolina also says the speakers will announce plans for Tuesday’s veto override session of the legislature.

More than 900 people were arrested inside the Legislative Building over three months earlier this year in civil disobedience during “Moral Monday” protests.
