NC Law Enforcement To Patrol Roads, Waterways
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A trio of North Carolina agencies is patrolling the state’s roads and waters to make sure residents are safe during the Labor Day weekend.
Officers from the N.C. Highway Patrol, the Wildlife Resources Commission and the Alcohol Law Enforcement Division are combining efforts to make sure motorists and boaters remain safe during the final summer holiday weekend.
Law enforcement officers will be conducting various driving while impaired checkpoints near parks and water recreational areas across the state during the “On the Road, On the Water, Don’t Drink and Drive” campaign.
Last year, the Highway Patrol investigated 278 fatal collisions and over 8,500 injury collisions during the summer months. This included 88 fatal collisions and 913 injury collisions due to impaired driving.
The campaign begins Saturday and ends on Monday.
