Ryan Dempster didn’t intentionally hit Alex Rodriguez last night because he used steroids. Dempster didn’t hit him because he plays for the Yankees. He hit him because ARoid turned his back on the union and on fellow teammates. Rodriguez “allegedly” ratted out his own teammate, Francisco Cervelli, and former NL MVP Ryan Braun. Certainly it seems that both of those players deserve the suspensions that MLB levied against them, but what right did Rodriguez have in turning them in? I’m going down so they are too?

I can’t think of a worse example of crossing the line with your colleagues. Then again, I guess maybe filing a lawsuit against your own team, claiming they tried to end your career might qualify.

So no, that wasn’t about Rodriguez using steroids. Plenty of Red Sox players have been implicated, along with the rest of baseball. That was about stabbing your friends in the back.
