Meet The QC: Physician And Photographer, Doug Brooks
(CBS Charlotte) — There are so many intriguing people who reside in the Queen City, and our latest Meet The QC interview definitely falls in the intriguing category.
You might think that a physician who has offices in Raleigh and Charlotte couldn’t possibly find the time to be anything other than a doctor, however, Dr. Doug Brooks prides himself in being a distinguished physician and photographer.
Brooks has undeniable dedication behind the doctor’s coat and behind the lens.
Brooks, a practicing physician for 13 years, graduated from West Virginia University School of Medicine in 1997, and completed his Residency at the University of South Carolina in Columbia.
A Charlotte resident for over six years, Brooks is the Chief Medical Officer at Vitality Center of Charlotte. The center focuses on Men’s Health, with a special emphasis on quality care. Patients at Vitality are generally scheduled for an hour long appointment with their physician. The duration of the appointment is extremely different than the 15 to 20 minute appointments most people have grown accustomed to during a visit with their Family Practitioner.

While Brooks has always had an interest in medicine, he remembers always having his camera by his side as well. A couple of years ago, he decided to curb his unproductive video game addiction and purchased a nice camera and started taking classes on photography from other photographers.
Now, nearly two years later, Brooks is a successful photographer — with a great team behind him. His Stylist, Whitley Adkins Hamlin and his Makeup Artist, Deme Jamie Fourtounis assist Brooks during the majority of his photo shoots. He enjoys co-shooting with other photographers, in addition to doing Landscape Photography and photo shoots with models and families.
In his “spare time” most people probably don’t know that Brooks is a Reality TV junkie — from The Bachelor to Game of Thrones, he’s a fan of most reality shows.
Throughout his accomplishments, both in the medical field and as a photographer, Brooks has remained incredibly humble. He thanks his parents for raising him the right way and for being supportive. He also relies a lot on his faith and credits God for helping him along this path.
What’s next? Brooks has upcoming photo shoots with a well-known country singer, clothing campaign shoots, model shoots, and family shoots.
