The Drive Tuesday 7-30-13 - Bucky Brooks from the NFL Network talks with The Drive about his recent article comparing Julius Peppers to South Carolina stand out Jadeveon Clowney, plus they get into Panthers training camp and how he sees the Panther ending up this season, and how he sees the Panthers wide receiving corps will shape up after the all-pro Steve Smith.
The NFL.com columnist recently wrote an article comparing South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney to former Carolina Panther Julius Peppers, he also shared his thoughts with the guys:
“He is the most hyped, the most recognizable prospect we have seen in some time….The difference between him and Julius Peppers is, Clowney plays nastier, which is good because it means it makes him more disruptive.”
At times, Brooks is an analyst for the NFL Network so he broke down what needs to happen for the Panthers to have a successful season:
“For the Panthers to win the division, Cam Newton has to play at a high level and he’s got to get some support from his teammates.”
One of the rumored changes to the Panthers offense is potentially having WR Steve Smith play in the slot ever now and then, the former NFL CB gave his take on that idea:
“What putting Steve Smith in the slot does is, it breaks up the chance of him getting double teamed…..I’m surprised it has taken the Panthers this long to put him in the slot…..I think moving Steve Smith to the slot will not only be beneficial to Steve, but will be great for Cam Newton and helping him.”
