CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — A chain-reaction wreck in Charlotte killed two people and sent eight more to the hospital.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say a car hit a van on Eastway Drive shortly before midnight Saturday, sending the car into oncoming traffic. A sport utility vehicle then struck the car, causing it to flip on its roof. Four passengers were ejected.

Two passengers in the car’s back seat were pronounced dead. A third back-seat passenger had life-threatening injuries.

No one has been charged.

Police say alcohol was not a factor. Officers have not indicated who was at fault. The crash remains under investigation.
