The Drive Thursday 7-25-13 – Dabo Swinney joined The Drive to preview the season.

On Tuesday it was announced that the media of the ACC voted Dabo’s Clemson team the preseason ACC Champions:

“I just don’t get caught up in that. The good thing about being at Clemson is the expectations are always high here.”

Clemson QB Tahj Boyd is one of the key returnees for the Tigers while also being a popular Heisman candidate, Dabo talked about the leadership of his star QB:

“It is off the charts. God was in a good mood when he made Tahj Boyd because he gave him everything you would want in a quarterback.”

Going into his 6th season as coach at Clemson, the Tigers open with SEC power Georgia in Death Valley:

“The game is big enough as it is, we weren’t really trying to make it any bigger than it already is.”

Clemson has not been able to defeat bitter in-state rival South Carolina for 4 years in a row now, Swinney had some thoughts on why that may be:

“They have just been better than us on gameday, it’s that simple….We’re looking forward to lining up and getting another shot at them this November, that’s for sure.”
