Jon Richardson, son of Carolina Panthers Owner Jerry Richardson, Dies at 53
According to the Charlotte Observer, Jon Richardson passed away from his battle with cancer this afternoon. The former Carolina Panthers Stadium President resigned in 2009 after being a part of the team ever since the team’s inception.
Jon, the eldest son of Carolina Panthers founder and owner Jerry Richardson, still belonged in the ownership group, and he was a previous football wide receiver at North Carolina.
The new UNC-Charlotte football stadium was named “Jerry Richardson Stadium” this summer, but Mr. Richardson will be giving a scholarship in Jon’s name.
