So it’s summertime. Are your kids getting restless at home? Do they want to stretch their feet and run around, learn something, or simply scream their heads off on a whirling roller coaster? Well, we thought we would help you out. We’ve compiled a list of the top 10 things for your child to do in and around Charlotte this summer! 10. Discovery Place

Does your child enjoy science and being interactive? Then Discovery Place is the destination for all of your son or daughter’s summer fun! Enjoy either Flight of the Butterflies or Animalopolis in their state-of-the-art IMAX theater, or visit one of the new exhibits! The possibilities are endless here.

Bring the kids for a day of fun and education at ImaginOn. This enormous children’s library is a key location for fun activity and learning. Enjoy the libraries large collection of children’s literature and interactive learning stations.  There are plenty of  DVD’s, CD’s, audiobooks, and computer stations for young technology lovers. The Loft is a section for teens (12-18) features computers, hi speed internet, books, scripts, magazines and more.

8. Southpark Movies Under The Stars

Starting Friday, August 3, spend the rest of your summer cozying up on the lawn of the Southpark Symphony Stage listening to music and enjoying movies with the family! There will be activities for children of all ages as well as some live music.

7. Regal Summer Movie Express

Does your child dislike the outdoors? No problem. We have the perfect thing for them that we think they’ll enjoy. Head on over to one of the three Regal Cinemas in the Charlotte area (Phillips Place, Starlight, and Stonecrest at Piper Glen) and enjoy some of your favorite movies from Rio to Ice Age to Diary of a Wimpy Kid! 6. Carolina’s Aviation Museum

Does your child like airplanes or are they interested in flying? Then Carolina’s Aviation Museum is the place for you. Sit through an interesting lesson about the history of aviation in North Carolina, and how things have progressed since then. Located on the grounds of Charlotte Douglas International Airport, the museum even houses actual aircraft’s that your child can get sit in and pretend to fly.

4. Ray’s Splash Planet

With the summer heat getting to all of us, including the kids, Ray’s Splash Planet is the best place to go inside and cool off.
