(CBS Charlotte) — An undercover drug bust at a local Elementary School has left one suspect dead.
Police in Charlotte say the operation was gang related and that the drug dealers chose to make the deal yesterday, in the parking lot of Hidden Valley Elementary School.
The deal involved a marijuana exchange between the dealers and Charlotte-Mecklenburg officers with the Gang Unit, in addition to a police informant.
As the “buyers” walked away, they were shot at by the suspects. Officers fired back, hitting Jaquaz Walker, 17, in the head. He died from his injuries at a local hospital.
The other suspect, believed to be 15-years-old, remains at large.
