It’s summertime.

The temps are finally hitting the 90’s.  Afternoon thunderstorms are as common as sweat on your brow, and that long 5 hour car ride with the family awaits many of you.

The Carolina Panthers are now officially on their summer vacation as well as mini-camp and off-season workouts ended this week.  In 6 weeks, the Panthers will meet down in nice, cool refreshing Spartanburg and dare to say this could be one of the more important training camps to open in the team’s history.

This is a huge year for a lot of folks.

From Jerry Richardson whose lobbying for public funds has ruffled a few feathers in the Carolinas, a good solid playoff push could make folks feel a little better about opening their wallets.

For Ron Rivera, this could be a make or break season, I know I am not breaking any news there.  This team simply has to get off to a faster start and show that they can be a factor for 16 games, not just the last 6 or 7.

For Cam Newton, this is his time to prove that he can be a top 10 caliber qb in the NFL and that not only has he grown as a qb but a a leader of this franchise as well.

Enjoy your summer boys, in 6 weeks it’s time to get down to business.  The time for talking about doing is over, it’s time to get it done.
