5-Star swingman Theo Pinson is set to make his college decision at a 12:15 press conference on Wednesday.  The Greensboro, N.C. native will make his college intentions known where he plays high school ball, Wesleyan Christian High School (High Point, N.C.).  The 6’5 175 lb. G/F will choose between Indiana, North Carolina, Duke, Louisville and Georgetown.

When you think of an “all-around” basketball player, Pinson fits the bill.  He can shoot, pass and defend.  Being a jack of all trades, its easy to see why Rivals recruiting service has him ranked as the #15 overall player in the 2014 class.  Pinson was expected to just narrow his list down in the near future so this announcement comes as a bit of a shock to recruiting analysts.

Indiana and UNC are the schools you will hear most analysts spit out, in reference to where Pinson will end up but the young man grew up a Duke fan and you can never count Coach K out of a recruitment.  The only official visit Theo has made to any college is to Indiana and that will be the only one he takes.  Aside from multiple un-official visits to Chapel Hill to watch games, UNC never got him on campus for an official.  That would seem to be an advantage for Indiana given Roy Williams’ track record recently when he gets kids on campus for official visits (see Joel Berry and Justin Jackson) during their junior year.  Both Berry, a 6’1 PG and Jackson a 6’7 forward have committed to UNC.

This recruitment just feels like a 3-horse race with Indiana leading as they make the turn down the stretch.  We all will find out for sure Wednesday afternoon.
