WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — A substitute teacher at a high school in Winston-Salem has been accused of having a gun in his car at the school.

Twenty-seven-year-old George Frederick Hall II was arrested Thursday at Philo-Hill Middle School.

Police say Hall is charged with possession of a weapon on a school campus.

Police said the school resource officer was in the staff parking lot checking on a car alarm and saw a handgun in the front passenger seat of that car.

Hall said he accidentally left the .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun in his car after going to a shooting range Wednesday.

It was not clear if Hall has an attorney. He is scheduled to appear in court June 6.
