(CBS Charlotte) — A manhunt is underway after a series of bizarre crimes across several counties.

The first crime was reported on Tuesday evening, after a car was stolen in University City, following a home invasion. Another home invasion was reported shortly after 3 a.m. this morning, in Cabarrus County. Officials believe that both crimes were committed by the same suspects, as the stolen vehicle was spotted in the second home invasion — however, the suspects managed to evade police.

Around 7 a.m. this morning, a person was carjacked at gunpoint in Stanley County, and shortly afterwards, the stolen car was spotted by police. Again, the suspects evaded police.

Police in Stanley County later found one of the suspects in a field and they exchanged gun fire. The suspect fled in a stolen vehicle and a police pursuit followed. The suspect later crashed the stolen vehicle, and was taken into custody.

The second remaining suspect, a black male, is still at large.
