(CBS Charlotte) — An investigation is underway in the Steele Creek area of Charlotte, after a fire destroyed a home early this morning.

Police were originally dispatched to the home, located on Cades Cove Drive, shortly after 1 a.m. — for a breaking and entering call.

Four suspects reportedly gained entry to the home after kicking in the front door. While inside, the suspects robbed the family and held them at gunpoint.

After the home invasion, the family left the home.

Then, shortly after 5 a.m. this morning, Charlotte Firefighters were dispatched to the same residence, where visible smoke and fire could be seen from afar.

It took 27 firefighters to put out the blaze.

No one was injured during either incident.
