(CBS Charlotte) — Hough High School in Cornelius, North Carolina, was evacuated today due to a suspicious item found on campus.
This marks the third evacuation in less than a week. Previously, the school was evacuated twice last week after the school received two different reports of a suspicious device on campus.
In both instances, no suspicious device was found, and a student was later arrested for making false bomb threats.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department bomb squad searched the campus today and found the suspicious item — which was deemed “non-hazardous.” The school was again given the “All clear,” and students and staff were allowed back into the school.
During the incident today, a second student was arrested for falsely reporting a bomb on campus.
