The Drive Thursday 4-18-13 -Stephen Curry talks with The Drive after last nights game against Portland and breaking the single season 3 point record. They discuss just how good he has been this season, if not getting selected for the All-Star Game was a motivating factor in the second half of the season, and we get his thoughts on if Kobe Bryant will be coming back after tearing his Achilles Tendon.
Friend of the show Stephen Curry checks in with guys after his record setting night in Portland, hitting more 3 pointers in one season than any ever has. We start by asking the point guard how his emotions were before the game.
“I’m never really nervous before a game but I had butterflies…I was trying to get the record out of the way so I could focus”
After missing out on the vote to get into the All-Star game we ask Steph if it was a motivating factor in the second half of the season to play even better.
“Shaq and some of the other players said its a long career and I just have to come back and continue to play hard”
“Yeah I tried to use it as fuel for the second half of the season…I think it worked”
Being here in Tar Heel country we get Steph’s thought on Harrison Barnes and how the rookie has played and will play in his first NBA playoff series.
“There are certain games that we’ll call his number against their best defensive player because we feel like he can get to where he wants to go on the floor”
“For him to be able to show that in the playoffs in his first year we are excited about that”
We wrap up with Steph by filling him in on the wager that Marty Smith from ESPN has made with Marc James and so we ask Steph if he’s interested in playing in the game for charity.
