ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina man wanted by authorities in North Carolina faces a new criminal charge after allegedly abandoning his 4-year-old daughter.
The Charlotte Observer reported Friday that authorities said John Arden Fisher of Rock Hill ran away when a bail bondsman came to a mobile home where he was staying, leaving behind his daughter.
York County sheriff’s deputies used tracking dogs to find Fisher hiding in the yard of a nearby home. The 38-year-old father was then charged with one count of unlawful neglect of a child.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department did not immediately disclose why Fisher was wanted in North Carolina. The 4 year-old and an older child who was at school at the time of the incident are in protective custody with the state Department of Social Services.
