Sidewalk Safety Campaign Launched By City Of Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CBS Charlotte) — Safe sidewalks are important to the pedestrian-friendly vision of the city of Charlotte.
Safe sidewalks benefit the whole community, especially pedestrians, cyclists, runners and the disabled, as they frequently use city sidewalks. Additionally, hazard-free sidewalks promote mobility and allow Charlotte residents to easily navigate around the city.
Recently, the city of Charlotte implemented a new measure to promote sidewalk safety. The Sidewalk Safety Campaign puts great emphasis on area residents refraining from placing waste, bulky items, garbage/recycling bins, or any other item on local sidewalks. Additionally, parked cars should never block the sidewalk.
Sidewalk obstructions pose a danger to people trying to maneuver their way around them, not to mention that sidewalk obstructions make it impossible to move about freely while traveling on the sidewalk.
Residents are encouraged to dial 3-1-1 to report a sidewalk obstruction.
