Charlotte Mayor Foxx Will Not Seek Re-Election
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CBS Charlotte/AP) — Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx will not seek re-election.
Foxx has been mayor since 2009. He says after two terms in office, he’s ready to do something else.
He told WBTV-TV that he has discussed the idea with his wife in recent months.
“I am grateful for the privilege of serving, knowing that this season will soon come to an end,” he said in his statement obtained by the station. “That said, my work is not done. For the rest of my time as mayor, I will work, as I always have, for the long-term interest of our community. I am deeply grateful to the citizens of Charlotte for investing your confidence in me.”
He says he’s accomplished most of what he wanted to do in office.
