Mike Rice: A couple quick thoughts on the Mike Rice situation at Rutgers. He should be fired by the time I’m finished typing this blog.He is bullying players that can’t and won’t fight back for fear of their future. These are 18, 19, 20 year old kids that have basketball dreams beyond Rutgers and they feel he holds their future in their hands. In a time when there is a national anti bullying campaign and a push for homosexual acceptance in locker rooms Rutgers shouldn’t have even thought twice about firing him right away.Do you think the Big Ten is excited to have Mike Rice join the likes of Tom Izzo and Bo Ryan in their coaching circle? He bullied and used slurs that are unacceptable. What is more unacceptable is Rutgers keeping this jerk as their coach.

Darvish Nearly Perfect: Yu Darvish of the Rangers was as close to perfect as you can get Tuesday night against the Astros when he went 8 2/3 innings gave up 1 hit and struck out 14 in the Rangers 7-0 win over the Astros.Darvish was one out from perfection when Marwin Gonzalez grounded a clean single through his legs. If you can judge a season by just 2 days it appears 2013 will again be the year of the pitcher after seeing how dominate Darhish, Madison Bumgarner, and Clayton Kershaw were in their first starts. If the Astros season goes as expected, their next league switch might be to Triple A.

Tuesday’s MLB Results

Orioles 7 Rays 4: Matt Wieters and Chris Davis both homered off David Price

Rockies 8 Brewers 4:Troy Tulowitski and Carlos Gonzalez with 2 RBIs each

Indians 4 Jays 1: RA Dickey gets the loss in his first start with the Jays (3 ER in 6 innings)

Cards 6 Dbacks 1: Matt Holiday with a 2 run HR to lead the way.

Giants 3 Dodgers 0: Madison Bumgarner with a gem. 8IP, 2 hits, 0 runs, and 6Ks

Seattle 7 A’s 1: Michael Morse with 2 HRs and 4 total RBIs

Melo Goes Off: Carmelo Anthony could smell blood in the water last night in Miami when the Heat sat LeBron, Wade, and Chalmers.Melo dropped 50 points on 18 of 26 shooting  in the Knicks 112-90 win. Its their 9th straight win and pushes them into a tie for the second seed in the east with the Pacers. As a Knicks fan, I’m praying to the basketball gods that they end up with the Hawks in the first round.Chicago has owned them this year and you never want to see Boston in the playoffs no matter how poorly they are playing. Here are the current match ups in each conference if the playoffs started today.

Eastern Conference

4 Brooklyn
5 Atlanta

3 Indiana
6 Chicago

2 New York
7 Boston

Western Conference

1 San Antonio
8 Utah/Lakers

5 Memphis

3 Denver
6 Golden State

2 Oklahoma City
7 Houston
