I have never tried to do my job with two hands tied behind my back but I imagine that it is pretty tough to do. This is what new Panthers GM Dave Gettleman has been asked to do when it comes to improving the roster of the 2013 Panthers and so far, I think he has done about as good as could have been asked of him. No, the moves have not been sexy, the guys on NFL Network and ESPN are not going to spend hours talking about the signings of guys like DJ Moore, Mike MItchell, or Chase Blackburn. But for the little wiggle rrom Gettleman had to work with, I think he has done some good things that give this team a chance to compete for a playoff spot next season.

Guys like Jordan Gross and Ryan Kalil have also stepped up to restructure their contracts to easy the salary cap headache as well which now will enable the Panthers to sign draft picks and perhaps a couple more bargain free agent types to fill out areas of need. Coming into the offseason, we all knew that the Panthers were going to be hard pressed to make a splash in free agency for 2 reasons, they had no money and that’s not the way they do business. so come off the ledge Panthers fans, things aren’t quite as bad as you might have thought they were going to be.
