CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CBS Charlotte) — Earlier this weekend, we reported that Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officers were searching for a suspect involved in a deadly hit-and-run.
Police have identified the suspect, and he is currently in custody. Oscar Francisco Garcia-Fuentes, 23, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and three counts of felony hit-and-run.
Police were dispatched to the intersection of N. Sharon Amity and Albemarle Road shortly after 2 a.m., on Saturday morning — where two vehicles had crashed at the intersection. Upon arriving, they found two deceased victims inside one of the vehicles.
The deceased victims involved in the accident were identified as Tony Gabriel, 26, and Diarre William Perry, a toddler. One other passenger, Brittany Massey, 24, survived the accident. Massey is the mother of the toddler.
Initially, Garcia-Fuentes fled the scene of the accident on foot. Police officers searched the area looking for him, but were unable to locate him immediately following the accident.
