Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Search For Suspect In Deadly Hit-And-Run

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CBS Charlotte) -– In the early hours of the morning, two people lost their lives in a hit-and run accident in Charlotte.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police were dispatched to the intersection of N. Sharon Amity and Albemarle Road shortly after 2 a.m. — where two vehicles had crashed at the intersection. Upon arriving, they found two deceased victims inside one of the vehicles.

The other driver of the vehicle (a Ford Mustang) involved in the accident fled the scene of the crime on foot. Police officers searched the area for the suspect, but he has yet to be located. Witnesses described the driver of the Mustang as a Hispanic male who is approximately 5’5″. He was wearing blue jeans and a white shirt when he fled the scene.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit, are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Crime Stopper’s tip-line at 704-334-1600.
