CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — A man who worked as a substitute teacher at Aynor High School has been accused of having sex with a female student.

Horry County police have charged 32-year-old Jerry David Love of Galivants Ferry with engaging a child under 18 for sexual performance.

A report says officers were called to the school Monday after the 16-year-old girl told administrative staff she had a sexual relationship with Love.

School spokeswoman Teal Harding says none of the alleged contact occurred at school. Harding says Love has been removed from the substitute teacher list.

The student told school administrators about the relationship after she received some email messages from Love. She said the relationship had gone on since May.

It was not clear if Love has an attorney.
