What was the bigger blow-out: Duke over North Carolina in Chapel Hill or Deadspin.com’s exposé of Panthers’ owner Jerry Richardson?

Despite the Blue Devils’ domination of the Tar Heels, I am going to have to go with Deadspin on this one. Uncle Jerry, good luck getting the blue-collar tax-payers of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County to fork over money while the Panthers made $112 million after the 2010 and 2011 seasons where they won a grand total of 8 games. Here’s the World’s Smallest Violin Jerry, do you hear it? You probably can’t hear it because there is no violin just like there are no financial problems at Bank of America Stadium.

Speaking of the Panthers, the best free agents the team ever signed were Stephen Davis, Sam Mills, and Jake Delhomme. The worst: Sean Gilbert hands down in landslide. Even Keyshawn Johnson and Lamar Smith would agree.

Don’t expect any big moves by new Panthers General Manager Dave Gettleman. This team is capped out because “MR.” Richardson decided to play Santa Claus after the lock-out ended in August 2011 handing out lavish contracts to inconsistent under-performing players like DeAngelo Williams and Charles Godfrey, and Charles “BIG MONEY/NO PRO BOWLS” Johnson. Not to mention, the team gave Jon Beason an astonishing $51 million contract with $25 million guaranteed. Since that deal, Beason has played a total of FIVE games in two seasons ending up on injured reserve. That was Money NOT well spent which is why top notch players like Dashon Goldson, Darrelle Revis, and Mike Wallace are not walking through that door, Panther Nation!

Sincerely,
