Matthews, N.C. (CBS Charlotte) — Police in Mecklenburg County are searching for a suspect in Matthews, and as a result of the search, a local middle school was placed on lockdown today.
Mint Hill Middle School was placed on lockdown around 10:30 a.m. this morning, and several police helicopters were spotted by residents in Matthews.
Shortly after noon today, officials with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school district announced that Mint Hill Middle School is now on partial lockdown.
The suspect is still on the loose, and police officers are expected to remain at the school for the remainder of the day.
