Heels Roll,Mamba Delivers, And The Canes Fall
Here is your daily what you missed blog.By the time you finish reading this 9 more Yankees will be listed as out for 8 to 10 weeks. You know its bad when the GM gets hurt jumping out of a plane. Enjoy your day and the shows today on 610 The Fan
Heels Rolling: Be warned my fellow Duke fans, that noise you hear is the Tar Heel bandwagon coming down the tracks.UNC won their 6th in row last night in impressive fashion over the Terps 79-68.This seemed like a game in a hostile environment the Heels would drop but they got a combined 41 points and 20 rebounds from P.J.Hairston and Reggie Bullock. With all the talk of the change to the small lineup and the play of Hairston, I think the progress and maturation of Marcus Paige has just as much to do with it.He did have 8 turnovers last night but he will be a handful for Duke on Saturday at the Dean Dome. I still feel with Duke having 3 seniors that experience will win out but the Heels are a team in the NCAA Tournament that people will not want to see
Mamba and LBJ Deliver: We mentioned in this blog yesterday that the Lakers couldn’t afford any bad losses the rest of the way and they were well on their way to one until Kobe saved their bacon again.Bryant scored 13 of his 42 points during a 20-0 run in the last 6 minutes of the game, and LA came back from 25 down to beat the Hornets 108-102.They move to within 1.5 games of the Jazz for the 8th seed.Kobe is averaging 33 a game over his last 5. He also added 12 assists last night.
Not to be outdone, LeBron had a moment last night as well.James layup with 3.2 seconds left lifted the Heat to their 16th win in a row as they beat the Magic 97-96. LBJ finished with 26 and D-Wade added 24.This is the first time since joining the Heat he hit the game winning shot.Just another night for the King. Can we just skip ahead to the Heat-Thunder rematch? LeBron and Russell Westbrook are as fun to watch as any athletes going today.
Fraud Alert:I refuse to quote Dennis Green to say the Miami Hurricanes are who we thought they were but I think I actually just said it anyway.Marcus Georges-Hunt tip-in at the buzzer helped the Yellow Jackets rally past the Hurricanes 71-69 to prevent them from clinching the outright ACC title. They were already assured of a share of the title and can still clinch by beating Clemson Saturday.I think they will beat Clemson but I don’t expect many more wins in March for them. They really remind a lot of Missouri from last season. An experienced roster that got hot in the middle of the season but faded in March. The Tigers are coached by Frank Haith and most of these Hurricane players are Haith recruits.I would not be shocked if they fell to a 14/15 seed in the first round and I definitely don’t expect them to move on to the second weekend.
