HONEA PATH, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a Honea Path man is dead after a bale of hay he was lifting with a tractor fell on top of him.
Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown said 54-year-old David William Knight was lifting a bale of hay with his tractor Sunday morning when a lifting arm on the tractor went too high. McCown said the bale fell toward the tractor and pinned Knight in his seat. Investigators said the bale weighed in excess of 800 pounds, and was being moved to feed Knight’s cows.
McCown said Knight’s wife sent their son to find Knight an hour or so later because Knight was late in getting ready for church.
